Salsa Workshops with Omar Clinton
Omar Clinton (videos shown at the bottom of the post) will be coming to Champaign, IL for a workshop series on December 3rd, 2011. Workshops are designed to benefit every levels of dancers including complete beginners to advanced dancers.
The workshop schedule:
11am-12.50pm–> 1st block: Body isolation & musicality (open level, everybody is welcome)
1pm-2.50pm–> 2nd block: Leading/ following techniques (open level, basic salsa knowledge will be expected)
3pm-4.50pm–> 3rd block: Spinning and styling (open level, basic salsa knowledge will be expected)
Workshops will be held at Channing Murray, Urbana, IL.
Goodbye New Orleans, Hello Champaign
Hey Everyone. I came to the end of my journey in New Orleans (for now!). I finished my Ph.D. and moved to Champaign, IL for my postdoc. I am currently teaching private lessons in the area and will be teaching group classes with iSalsa2 at UoI. New schedule will be coming up soon!

Notes on New Orleans Jam
Hey Everyone,
New Orleans Jam was a HUGE success!! Thank all of you for supporting the event.. I am not going to say we are planning to rebuild the scene, cuz we are alredy in process and we ARE REBUILDING the scene.. Thanks to all instructors who cooperate for this important goal. It is a team work!
Pre-party, Workshops (How much fun was that!!!), After-party (WOW!!!, everybody was enjoying themselves so much! Nobody wanted to leave..), BBQ at Oscar’s house (it would be wrong to call that just a BBQ, it was also crawfish boil, salsa social, domino party… wait to see the videos lol)
I want to thank Raymond, Amanda, Ector, Oscar, Jonte, Mikhael and Lea for their help with organization..
All the performers, John and Kattye for their beautiful modern choreographies they brought to the stage with their dancers.. Oscar, Jonte and Jana for representing New Orleans with impressive routines.. Anna Karassik for coming down from Chicago for tango workshops and beautiful show.. Shaka Brown for the amazing workshop and MCing at the party.. Nick, Noel and Melissa for bringing the Jam to New Orleans..
And thanks to all out of town guests coming from Talahasee, Texas, Atlanta, Missisipi… We now put New Orleans on salsa map and all country will be talking about this!!. Here are some of the quotations from our guests..
